Office Depot denies extended warranty

Office Depot complaint by Mlockler
I purchased a Lenovo laptop in Sept. 2006 and within a year the screen would not come on. I shipped to "warranty center" for repair in Dec. 2007.

It was returned the end of Jan 2008 stating repairs had been done.

The beginning of March 2008 the same problem occured and once again was shipped for repair and once again returned, stating service was performed and repairs were complete by the end of April 2008.

Upon turning on the system, the LCD screen did NOT work. May 1st the laptop was AGAIN sent in for repair of the same problem, at this point the warranty center has had the laptop for nearly 60 days. Here it is end of June, no word from Office Depot or the warranty center.

Today I call Office Depot to inquire the status of repair, only to be told the "claim has been denied" due to water damage? Since the only people who have had this lap top (other than UPS) for the last 6 months is the warranty center this is puzzeling.

The same claim three (3) times in 6 months, twice returned as repaired, NOT, and now there is Water damage. What a scam, I'm pissed.

AIRHEAD ALERT..........

as I was saying, the local manager said I was quoting the correct price for a 3 year warranty, even that he believed me......but I was still to prove it or they wouldn't do anything........

I am sorry to hear this!

:cry

I bought a laptop in February 2006 and purchased a 3 year warranty for about $286. All I need is to have the fan/power source swapped, a pretty minor bit of work overall......instead, when I called, they informed me that my warranty had expired in Feb. 2008!

Now, as per their rules and regulations, the burden of proof is on me to "prove" it wasn't a 2 year warranty, even when I am told that by the local manager, where I made the purchase (won't even go into the BS I've been dealing with through their "Preferred Protection Plan" protection service company and their "receipt retrieval department" who says they can't go back further then 18 months????? How the *** can they issue a 3 year warranty if they don't keep track that long? I am so confused!)

Anyways......was a pissed consumer and saw this............

Hope it finally worked out well for you!

Cheers, Jan
